About
Eucalypta Label was born in the heart of the Garden Route as a passion project during lockdown, when everything got brought to a slower pace, whilst re-evaluating and contemplating what the future may hold.
My name is Carla and I am the founder & artisan of this eco-conscious small business. I grew up in the countryside where there were next to nothing to offer in terms of clothing. As a child I used to salvage usable off-cut fabric pieces from my mom’s sewing bin to make new clothes for my dolls. Growing up I always loved paging through magazines to see what the fashion section had to offer.
Being artistic yet mathematical, combined with my love for good clothing, I pursued my devotion by studying Fashion Design in Cape Town, after which I entered the workforce as a Pattern-maker for a clothing factory and has since gained over a decade and a halve of experience in the clothing manufacturing industry.
Clothing has always been a passion of mine, along with my admiration for nature and wildlife. Photography is probably my most favourite past time activity, aside from hanging with our Golden Retriever, Freya. Fun fact - all photos featured on this website were taken by myself. I met my husband, André, on the West Coast, where he grew up and I also gained a new perspective on life.
My dream has always been to establish a brand where whatever I produce, to put out on the market, won’t be harmful to our precious planet, but to rather provide quality over quantity. You are very likely to come across one of a kind pieces on this site.
Welcome to my ethically manufactured clothing brand, using sustainable fabrics only. Part of my ethos is to create timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come. I would also like to expand this into some of my other artisanal crafts such as watercolour artwork, leather works and some homeware items.
